Thankfully, Jaya has an uncle who chose not to see his niece the same way the rest of his family did. He saw a young girl with potential and enrolled her at an early age in one of our schools! She flourished in mind, body, and spirit. And this last year, while her home descended into chaos, generous donors like you have made sure Jaya’s education was never interrupted. She is almost done with a degree that will change the trajectory of her life forever! But her story continues to unfold - and so we must continue to fight for her. Together, we can promise Jaya that tomorrow will be better than today. By making a donation to our Spring Promise appeal, you are making sure nothing disrupts a child’s future: not an alcoholic father; not discrimination, and certainly not a global pandemic.www.dfnusa.org/spring_social/ ... Jaya’s life had a difficult start... Her grandparents didn't approve of her parent's marriage - They looked down on the woman their son had fallen in love with. Not a glamorous job - but it provided a steady income for them. She refused to quit, even when her husband and his family forbade her from doing such a “disrespectful” job.As the pandemic worsened, both of Jaya’s parents eventually lost their jobs. Her dad turned to alcohol to soothe his worries. His alcoholism led to violence in his family, eventually taking his own life. But the story of Jaya's journey doesn't end there. Look out for part 2 tomorrow! ... See MoreSee Less
